The typical Maxim machine gun had a short recoil operated, water cooled, and that it was a full automatic only belt-fed machine gun. The most typical feature of this Russian Maxim machine guns was their wheeled mount protected by an armoured shield. The mounts had two basic patterns, one designed by Sokolov in 1910, and another designed by Vladimirov in 1939.
Designed in the United States in 1911 by U.S Army Colonel Isaac Newon Lewis and based on a model by Samuel McLean. This gun was nicknamed "the Beligian rattlesnake" by German forces which came up against this weapon in 1914.

The battle of Stalluponen a battle plaid with a strategy by Russia called Plan 19 - "a fighting spirit capable of turning back any enemy by its sheer power". Where Rennenkampf's first army (consited of 200,000 men) would enter East Prussia and general Samsonov's second army would invade flanking the south. This battle fought agaisnt Germany in the Eastern Front, was fought using cavalry, since it provided more "height advantage."
While the western front developed a trench warfare, the eastern front had more fluid battle lines, but did not develop any trenches, due to the fact that the greater length of the front ensured that the density of the soldiers was lower, so easier to break. The front extended from the Batlic Sea South to th Carpathian mountain, and to the East of the Caucasus mountains with a distance of nearly 1800 miles. The soil itself sandy and much less suited for earthwoks and trenches. But likewise, the introduction of bolt-action rifles, and machine guns were soon the replacements of swords. Some of the first most commonly used weapons used by the Russian Soldiers throughout the war are listed below
The creation of such destructive weapons definitely turned humanity into a destructive specie. The introduction of rifles and machine guns allowed for more damage to be cause under a smaller time period and their effectiveness is scary. Now take into account that the harsh environments of Russia during the winter were also key factors and determined who were the best soldiers suitted for the battle. Many people died more from disease than from actual fighting!
The first domestic machine gun which appeared in the United States in 1895, was the Colt M1895. This machine gun was developed by John Moses Browning a gun genius, between 1891 and 1895. This machine gun was known as the "potato digger" because of its peculiar down-swinging arm driven by a gas piston.
